Happy Valentine’s Day!

Did you know that Valentine’s Day is the second largest card-sending holiday. (Christmas is the first) There are cards for everyone. Mom’s, Dad’s, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Siblings, Children and Friends. There are even cards for our pets.

We celebrate LOVE on Valentine’s Day. And this week, when I saw Valentine cards, decorations and gifts in all the stores (and on-line), I had a thought that I wanted to share with you. It’s about LOVE. And who is the most important person to LOVE. I believe the most important person to LOVE is ourselves.

Loving ourselves is so important because it sets the foundation for all other forms of love. When we embrace self-love, we cultivate a deep sense of worthiness and acceptance within ourselves. And self-love empowers us to set boundaries and prioritize our well-being, which leads to greater resilience in the face of challenges. And let’s face it…we all have challenges.

Loving ourselves also strengthens personal growth and fulfillment. When we acknowledge and honor our strengths, weaknesses, and unique qualities, we pave the way for self-improvement and self-actualization. This supports us in pursuing our passions and goals authentically. Ultimately, self-love nurtures a positive self-image and inner contentment, which lays the groundwork for a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Through self-love practices such as mindfulness, meditation and self-reflection we can cultivate a sense of inner peace that can positively impact every area of our lives.

My Valentine gift to you is a simple exercise.

Tonight, before you go to bed… look in the mirror, smile and say, from the bottom of your heart… I LOVE YOU!! And if you like how you feel, do it the next morning. And perhaps this will become a self love practice that you can do daily.
